True Creativity – It May Not Be What You Think!
What do you think of when you hear the word, creativity? Do you think art, music, style or aesthetics? While these are all important elements of creativity it is not a complete picture of what it means to be creative. Wikipedia tell us “Creativity is a phenomenon whereby something new and valuable is created” As business owners we all need to be creative thinkers. We need to provide value to our clients and customers. We need to create new methods for attracting more leads and sales to our businesses. We need to move beyond the aesthetics when we consider creativity. It’s about how we do business, what methods, systems and ideas we can introduce in a creative way to produce a better outcome.
Let’s get our creative thinking caps on and ask ourselves these two questions:
- What new methods or systems can I introduce into my business to create more value for my clients and customers?
- What new methods or systems can I introduce into my business to attract new prospects and customers?
The Creative Process
Recently in a lengthy email from a prospective customer they asked about our creative process. While it was a difficult topic to address here’s how I responded (right or wrong, I’m happy to hear your thoughts in the comments below):
We design better because we understand you better. We understand you better because we communicate better. We communicate better because we have a proven system to hear what you are truly saying and identify your intentions. Our system is designed to discover how we can communicate your message most effectively to your target market on a concious and subconscious level. This is a unique methodology and it forms the core principles of what we believe creativity is.
The Production Systems
In light of what I’ve said above, I believe creating production systems are an important part of the creative process in business. Here’s what I also included in the email to my prospective customer (again, happy to hear your thoughts):
Our production system enables us to produce a consistent, predictable result you can rely on. Our production focus is attention to detail in a timely manner. You can breathe easy knowing your project is in safe, reliable hands.
