The Power of a One Page Website

There are a number of reasons businesses choose to launch a one page website. Often it’s due to budget restraints or it may be a short-term solution while a more in-depth website is being developed. Maybe its to target a small niche and sit separately to your regular, corporate website. Whatever the reason, let’s be perfectly clear… don’t underestimate the potential of a one page website. It may actually prove to be more effective for your business than a fully-fledged, multi-page website. One page that is effectively designed may be all your business needs to generate significantly more leads and sales.

The User Experience

Creating the right user experience for your target market will increase your conversions. Not all page designs suit all types of markets. You need to consider what your visitors need most of all from a business like yours and what will motivate them to respond. Consider how they may be viewing your webpage. Are they likely to be using a mobile phone or a PC? How should the website look in these devices? Do you have the design and programming skills to do it yourself?

The Message & Offer

Try to reach everyone and you will reach no one. The temptation is to cram information about all your products or services on your one page website. It may not be practical and may cause too much confusion for your visitors. They simply are not going to read all that guff. You should laser target your message to your ideal customers. Focus on the people who are the perfect fit for your business. Position yourself as a specialist with a very specific client/customer in mind and you will influence more visitors to take action such as subscribing to your newsletter, filling in a form, purchasing a product or giving you a call.

What is the one thing you want your prospects to do once they have visited  your webpage?

That is your offer. Everything on your webpage should be about getting visitors to respond to your offer so there must be compelling reasons for them to respond.

If your business provides a few core areas of products or services you may choose to segment your webpage into sections highlighting each of these areas. Just make sure there is consistency with the overall message across each section so one core message is understood by your visitors. For example, if you were an electrician you may have two segments, Residential & Commercial but there might be an overriding message for example “On time, on budget Guaranteed” which may cover every area of business. It’s that message that you want to emphasise in your webpage. The offer might be “Call Now for an Quick Quote!”
